Iraqis can help stop this!
Iraqi citizens can stop the terrorists and end this violence. The question is: Do you want to help stop the violence in Iraq? Let me ask you a few questions?
- Are you unhappy with the way your life is going right now?
- Is it dangerous to live and work in your neighborhood?
- Do you want regular electricity in your home?
- Do you want a good job?
- Do you want to rid your country of the foreign terrorists and criminals who kill innocent Iraqis?
- Do you want Iraq to stand alone without Coalition help?
- Do you want to be able to live, work, and take care of your family in peace?
- Do you want a safe and prosperous future for your family?
If you answered 'YES", then listen carefully; I will give you direction on how to make your life better.
You must be sure you really want to live a good life in Iraq - an existence where you can live, work, and worship without fear. You were denied that fully under Saddam, but now IT IS YOUR CHOICE. Do you want to live happily?
Talk to your close friends and family and ask them the same questions I asked you. If their answer is also "YES", then you must convince them to help you. Ensure you are careful when you discuss these topics, because you don't want terrorist and criminal spies to listen. If you do what I suggest you will be perfectly safe.
Get a notebook and write things down. Keep the book in a hidden place so it won't get lost or stolen. Write down activities that seem out of place.
Start by noting who is in your neighborhood. Do you know those people? Have they lived in your neighborhood for a long time? If you know them, do you think they are involved in helping foreign terrorists or criminals? Is a stranger living in their house? Who is he? What does he look like? What does he drive? When does he come and go?
What automobiles are normally parked on your street? Who do they belong to? If you notice strange automobiles, write down the description in your notebook. Write down the year, make, model, color, and license plate number at a minimum. Who drives the strange car? Have you seen him before? Write down a good description of every occupant? Write down the day and time you saw them. Where did they park? Who did they visit? How long were they there?
Have you seen people carrying weapons in your neighborhood? Do they carry them for self protection, or are they carrying them to conduct attacks? Write down dates and times when you see those people. Do you know them? If not, what do they look like? What did they drive? If they were walking, what direction did you see them walking?
Have you seen people burying something near the road? Have bombs gone off near your neighborhood? Where do people shoot from in your neighborhood? Where do people hide weapons?
Are there foreigners or strangers in your mosque? Does your mosque Sheik preach violence against the Coalition? Does he ask for donations to support the foreigners or attacks?
Have you heard rumors about foreigners, terrorists, or others who are planning attacks or violence? Have you heard rumors of people who are helping the terrorists or are sympathetic to their cause? The terrorists do not care about you or Iraq.
If you know a friend in your neighborhood who has been threatened by terrorists or foreigners, ask them to tell you their story. Ask them to describe the person who threatened them. Tell them you want to help them, and that they need to trust you. Tell them to come to you if they are threatened or frightened. Write their information down in your book. Comfort them. They need the help of good friends.
Talk to the friends and family YOU TRUST and ask them to write things down too. Instruct them to be careful with their notebook and to hide it. Have them visit you and tell you about suspicious things as soon as they find out about them. Make sure you know whether it is something they personally saw, or if it is something they heard. Rumors are okay, but you need to say they are rumors. Get details: names, descriptions, dates, times, places, etc.
Write these tips down on a piece of paper. Be as detailed as possible. You will give this paper to an American Soldier. Write it in Arabic if your English is not good. On your note, make sure you include that you love Iraq and are giving information freely in order to help free Iraq from criminals and terrorists. You don't have to write your whole name, but a nickname is helpful until you find an American you trust on a regular basis. When they read this, they will know you are sincere. Do not ask for money or you will not be taken seriously. You may receive compensation for your efforts in the future, but your real reward is seeing your country free of violence. Also write if you are willing to bring more information at a future date. Take these tips to a Coalition check point, or to a soldier walking on the street. DO NOT give it to an Iraqi policeman unless you COMPLETELY trust him. Give your tips to an American, they will know what to do with it.
If you are willing to meet with an American, let them know when and where they can meet you. That way you can tell someone directly what your concerns and needs are. Americans have Arabic speaking interpreters. You can trust them.
If another Iraqi, or a foreigner, asks you what you were doing near the Americans, lie to them. Tell them you heard the Americans were giving out money and food. Tell them you wanted to find out how to get free things from them. Or make up another story to keep you safe. You have to get your information to the people who can stop the terrorists, but you have to be careful. Always be discreet; it makes your future efforts safer.
You also need to protect yourself and your family. You need to always keep your weapon within reach in your home. Iraqi law allows you to have a weapon for home protection. If a stranger comes to the door and threatens you with violence, be prepared to protect yourself. If you kill a criminal or terrorist, you will not be prosecuted under Iraqi law. You have the right to protect yourself and your family!! Encourage your friends and family to do the same. United, Iraqis can stop terrorists and criminals from shaming your country.
Leave the terrorists and foreigners no place to live or hide. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR FAMILY; THEREFORE YOU SHOULD NOT CARE FOR THEM. Discourage strangers from driving around in your neighborhood by hanging signs on the roadside discouraging trespassers and criminals. A few foreigners or criminals are no match against a whole family or neighborhood. Be safe, be careful, but be active. Every little effort will help.
Your tips and your help will make Iraq free and strong. You and your neighbors can be the saviors of your nation. The Americans have been helping Iraq, and want to help you. They want to finish their business and make Iraq a free nation. When Iraq is free, the American soldiers can go home. But only YOU can make the difference. Do not be afraid.
MAKE A STAND FOR YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR NATION. THE SOONER YOU START, THE SOONER IT WILL BE FINISHED.
