As I sit and reflect on the actions of 1st Sgt Brad Kasal and all the warriors like him, I am driven to say we must go out of our way to hold them in the highest regard. They do not receive the recognition they deserve.
Combat requires a commitment and resolve that many men will never muster. All who survive it and live to share the tale are worthy of the highest honor. Those who have never experienced it cannot imagine the toll it takes on the body and the mind. It is a baptism of fire, and a brotherhood of blood.
There are numerous examples of US Servicemen (British, Polish, Iraqi and others too) who daily exhibit courage and bravery that go unnoticed and unrewarded. They should be recognized. These are men of valor and integrity, and sterling examples of selfless service: Special Forces soldiers, US Marine Infantrymen, Navy SEALs and Seabees, Airforce crewmembers, civilian contractors, pay clerks, medical personnel, and all others who are willing to sacrifice all for a righteous cause.
And sacrifice they do. My friend, Master Sergeant Richard "Ferg" Ferguson, died in Iraq last year. My friend, Warrant Officer Matthew Murphy, was combat wounded a couple of months ago. All of my comrades sacrifice safety and personal comfort to complete the task. We need to recognize them daily, and NEVER FORGET that freedom isn't free. Raise a glass to Brad, Ferg, and Matt. Drink a toast to all the men and women who fight for freedom.
God bless the United States of America, and God bless the free nation of Iraq.

TBone? You may very well become my favorite blog. You always have something insightful to say, and your opinions always seem to match mine...must be that military blood running though our veins.
If you want to be outraged by a picture, you should visit The Hounds (http://thehounds.blogspot.com/2005/02/more-civil-discourse-from-left.html#comments).
Take care!!!
Deanndra - You are truly a sweetheart. Thank you for the kind words. I think you and Antimedia are probably the only people who read my stuff, and give a darn.
Take care,
